This trial assesses the effects of an evidence-based foster parent intervention on reducing mental health disparities among child welfare-involved youth and improving care quality.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for foster or kinship parents in Oregon with a child aged 4-21 under Child Welfare Services care. It aims to improve mental health outcomes for Native, Hispanic/Latino, Black/African American, and sexual and gender minority youth.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study evaluates adaptations of 'Keeping Foster and Kinship Parents Supported and Trained' (KEEP), comparing the standard KEEP program with a modified version called Non-Affinity KEEP to see which better supports these youths.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
As this is a behavioral intervention focused on training and support rather than medication, traditional side effects are not applicable. However, participants may experience emotional discomfort discussing sensitive topics.

Group I: Affinity KEEPExperimental Treatment1 Intervention
Affinity KEEP groups are tailored to meet a specific population's needs and are comprised of parents who all share a common interest, purpose, or key characteristic. The four types of Affinity KEEP groups for this study include:
foster/kin parents of sexual and gender minority youth
foster/kin parents of Native youth
transracial placements where the youth and one or more parents are of a different race/ethnicity
groups delivered in Spanish
Group II: Non-Affinity KEEPActive Control1 Intervention
Parents attending a Non-Affinity KEEP group.

This trial includes the following eligibility criteria:- I am a foster/resource parent with a child aged 4-21 for the KEEP program.I am a foster/resource parent with a child under 4 years old for the KEEP program.
Research Study Groups:
This trial has the following groups:- Group 1: Affinity KEEP
- Group 2: Non-Affinity KEEP
Awards:
This trial has 1 awards, including:- No Placebo-Only Group - All patients enrolled in this study will receive some form of active treatment.
